Big Day for Both Boys

Yesterday was a big day for Jaxon and for Dashiel.  Jaxon started swimming lessons.  This is the first time he's taking "big kid" swimming lessons, without mom and dad.  He was a little nervous about doing it without us, but was SO excited to get into the pool.  He isn't such a fan of putting his face in the water, but he did a great job of listening to his teacher and at least trying to do what she asked.  We are both very proud of him.  We arrived for class a little early, so we watched the lesson before his and he noticed the parent-tot classes and asked why we weren't doing that with Dash.  Jaxon says that Dash told him that he'd like to take some swimming lessons so he can learn to swim too.  Watching the parent-tot class made me miss when Jaxon was that little and needed (and wanted) us to do that sort of stuff with him.  Granted, we can do that stuff with Dash now, but Jaxon not needing us to do that with him means that he's growing up.  Every once in awhile, I remember that after one more year of preschool, Jaxon will go to kindergarten and that makes me want to throw up.  I asked him yesterday if he would just stay 4 forever so that he'd be little, but he says that's Dash's job to be little, and it's his job to grow up and do all the big kid stuff.

Yesterday wasn't quite as big of day for Dashiel, but still sort of important:  it was his 2 month birthday!  This week, he graduated from the chiropractor now that we've gotten his reflux/spitting up mostly under control.  On Tuesday, he weighed 11 pounds, 14 ounces ~ we have his 2 month check up tomorrow, so we'll see how much weight he's put on in a week.  I just checked and at Jaxon's 2 month check, he weighed 10 pounds, 5 ounces and was 22.75 inches long.  Clearly, Dash wins in the weight department, we'll just have to see which was taller at this point.  He's getting his own personality, which is funny to see.  He smiles a lot.  I can tell that he loves his big brother, because when he sees Jaxon, he gets the biggest smile on his face.  Jaxon is very protective of Dashiel and such a great helper with him.  When Dash is upset, we sing him the song "You Are My Sunshine", my favorite though is when I find Jaxon singing it to Dash all on his own.  Jax also sings him a mixed up version of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and "The Wheels on The Bus."

We are so lucky to have these boys in our lives! :)

Track Stars!

The parks and rec here does a youth track program for a couple weeks in the spring and so last week we tried it out with Cin'Que.  The boys are pretty excited for the remaining two weeks, but I think that it's mostly because they found out that on the last night they get a medal.  One thing is for sure, they both take their racing very seriously.
 Cousins!

Jaxon and his cakes

I didn't realize the most important part of a birthday is making the wish on a candle and on Jaxon's actual birthday it got to be a little late to actually eat cake, so he had a practice run on how to make a wish on a candle and then the next day, we had to have the actual wish making.  He was very excited for this and asked me at 7am if he could make his wish yet.
We also had Jaxon's first birthday party with friends.  We took him and two friends to see The Croods after some playing and cake at the house.  He had a pretty good time and was disappointed when it was time to take his friends home.

Circus

Jaxon has been waiting for the circus to come to town since last year's circus.  Josh surprised him one day with tickets that he'd gotten from work.  Jax had big plans for it:  ride the elephant, eat some cotton candy, have a slushie, watch some tigers and penguins (one of the kids at school told him that "all circuses have penguins"...)  When we got there, though, there was no elephant, but he bravely rode the camel.  He even tried to climb on by himself, before the guy loading the kids was ready.  He says he had fun, but didn't like that all those girls in front of him smooshed him.

Of course, we had to get some cotton candy and a slushie (and a light up toy).
The first half of the circus was fun, after we had his sugar high under control.  During intermission, though, he decided that he'd seen all he needed to see and was ready to leave and go get his baby from uncle Jameson's, so we left.  Plus, he'd already decided what sort of jobs all of us would have once we start our own circus, so we really had no reason to stay.  :-p

Dash & Jax

When Dash was born, I took some time off of work and one of the things I did that week was take the boys to have their pictures taken.  Jax had his taken on the first day, so he could show Dashiel how to take pictures.  The second day, we did the boys together, and on the third day we did just Dash.  So in the pictures below, Dash is 8 or 9 days old.  That doesn't seem like that long ago, but really he will be 2 months old already next week.  His solo pictures resemble Jaxon's first pictures pretty closely, except Dash was kind enough to be awake for his, where Jaxon slept through his.

This is my most favorite picture of the boys.  It makes my heart happy  :)

Jaxon is 4!

Yesterday, my most favoritest Jaxon turned 4 years old.  He's to the age where he understands (sort of) the significance of a birthday, so it was an interesting day.  He was up at 6am, just waiting for someone to be awake to celebrate with him.  He and Daddy had breakfast and then he watched cartoons til Mommy and Dash got up.  When I got up, I was trying to get Dash's diaper changed and did not realize that the first thing required of me on Jaxon's birthday is to wish him a happy birthday as well as sing for him.  I didn't sing for him (yet), but I did wish him happy birthday many times throughout the day.  He wasn't sure how long his birthday would last, so after each thing he did (eat breakfast, play toys, open gifts, eat lunch, rest time, etc) he would ask if it was still his birthday.  He was a little sad this morning that his birthday is really over, and he won't get to celebrate again for a whole year.  He IS excited, however, that he's going to be 4 (!!) years old for a WHOLE year!!

These are (some of) Jaxon's 4 year pictures, as well as his preschool picture (from October.  I know, a little late...)

Happy birthday, to my favoritest Jaxon ~ you are my favorite cuddlebutt, Daddy's best fixing helper, and Dashiel's best friend.  We love you dearly!

Easter Bunnies

Jaxon was so excited to get ready for Easter and paint eggs.  Dying 18 eggs, though, only took about 5 minutes - 10 at most.  He's not much for the artistic aspect of it.  He'd drop them in the dye for about 3 seconds, pull them out and move onto the next one.  He was very proud of them when they were all done, though, and didn't like it when he caught me eating one!

The West Fargo Parks puts on an Easter egg hunt and then you can meet the Easter bunny.  Jax spent the whole day counting down til it was time to go find eggs and "get into the Easter Bunny's house."

Hope everyone had a great Easter!

Dashiel Blaze!

It's been too long since this has been updated and there's been BIG changes at our house!  (My computer had a virus that didn't like me blogging, but it's all fixed now.)

My water broke at 5:08 am and the nurse that was originally on duty told us we'd have a baby by noon.  She wasn't too far off!  Dashiel Blaze was born on February 27th at 12:27 pm.  He weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches long.  He was and is absolutely perfect.  It did not take long for all of us to fall in love.  Even Jaxon, who was adamant the whole time that we needed a "gril" baby, not a boy.  He is the sweetest big brother, and such a great help with anything asked of him.  We are lucky to have 2 such wonderful boys.  The following pictures are from our first couple of days.

I was trying to get a good picture of Jax and Dash at home, and Jaxon finally covered his eyes as well as Dash's and told me "Mom!  Quit!  We don't like pictures!"
