Swimming!

Last night, we set up Jaxon's swimming pool. The water was FREEEEEEZING though, so not a lot of swimming went on. He and I stood in the pool and splashed some, and we hooked the hose up to the sprinkler that's attached to it and tried that out. Last year, he HATED the sprinkler part, this year he thinks it's funny.

"Napping" on the steps He's an excellent fake sleeper. He gets this from his uncles.
This is the new towel I picked up for him at the Disney store this weekend. He's pretty proud of it and spent a lot of time arranging it over his legs so he could see all the cars and tell me who they were.

We had to take the slide out of his pool, he liked it better on the grass ~ it was easier to try and teach Crunch how to use it then. (I don't anticipate that the slide will make it through summer if he's going to insist Crunch uses it too)

Splashing! He would only stay in the pool if I did, too. It felt like we were standing in a bowl of ice cubes.

Teaching him important skills this summer: how to drink from a hose. (Earlier, he learned the "proper" way to eat an Oreo with milk ;) )

Escape!

Last week, while Josh was cleaning up from putting in the sandbox and I was getting dinner ready, Jax escaped through the gate!

I happened to have gone out to tell Josh dinner would be ready in a few minutes when I heard the gate click and asked him if he could see Jaxon. He said no, and I looked around the corner of the house just in time to see him jumping off the bottom step by our front door and heading at a dead run for the driveway. Josh and I both took off after him and by the time we caught up to him, he was at the end of the driveway, jumping in puddles.

We both told him he can't play in the street and when we were done, he looks at Josh and goes, "Oh, Dad. I fine." *And suddenly, I can picture him as a teenager saying something similar to us....*

A Couple More

These are Jaxon's new cars, from the movie Cars. A week ago Thursday, he watched it for the first time (ever) and was so excited he could hardly breathe. I had never realized that, though his room is decorated with Cars, he has Cars toys, etc, that he's never seen more than 5 minutes of the movie. That changed pretty quickly. Since Thursday, we have watched the movie 20+ times. I had gotten him some a small Lightning and Mater when we were running errands last week, and he has carried them around since. He's even tried sleeping with them. While we were visiting the Mall of America, we brought him to the Disney store and picked up a set of 10 new Cars from the first movie. When we got home and took them out of the box, he was in heaven.

Racing his new cars. I don't "vroom" properly though, so he "vrooms" for me.

Our nephew Doony rode home with us today, Jax liked having someone in the backseat to visit with. Though, I'm not so sure Doony appreciated it when Jax would fling his blanket on him and just generally annoy him.

Aquarium/Mall of America

We took Jaxon to the aquarium at the Mall of America and then checked out the Legos this afternoon. Josh and I had been to the aquarium a few years ago and since it is owned by a new company, decided to try it again. Jax was a little crabby and having fish swim over the top of him in tunnels freaked him out. When we got to the end, though, we let him out of the stroller and he wanted to walk back through everything. Until he got to the entrance of the tunnel, that it is. I thought he would love it, as much as he loves fish, but I guess he's a little too little yet?

This mural is made completely of Legos. AMAZING. And to think my brothers and I just built houses and chairs with our Legos... This was Jax's favorite Lego sculpture.

I love the look on his face here.

Walking back through the aquarium...he came to a screeching halt when he got to that doorway into the tunnel where the fish swim over your head though.

I thought for sure that Jax would jump at the chance to stick his hands in the water, but he was not having it.

Having stingrays swim this close to him freaked him out at first, but then he was ok with it. We went into a tunnel to get a closer look at them and he was so excited to tell daddy about them when we came out!

Visiting Grandpa Jim & Grandma Linda

This weekend, we went to Lakeville to visit Josh's parents and so Josh could golf with his dad in a tournament. While they golfed, Jax played in/near/around the pool. I swear, we packed TWO swimsuits for him but he never wore them. Saturday afternoon he fell in the pool fully clothed (thank goodness for the swim sweater he was wearing!) and Sunday, it was just easier to strip him down since he was already standing on the steps to the pool.

Jax spent a lot of time dragging Grandma Linda around by the hand and playing in the pool with her. The picture below makes me laugh because he was trying to copy her while she was fishing out stuff he'd thrown in the pool. He would throw toys in and then make Grandma fish them out so he could do it all over again.

Jax also spent quite a bit of time playing with uncle Jeff. He would drag Jeff to pull balls out of the pool and then promptly throw them back in. They played a lot of "bee-ball" (I think this translates to basketball, since he'd say the same thing when playing with the basketball hoop).

Peeking over the fence with Grandma's help!

Maybe next month when we're down there, he'll actually wear a swimsuit....

New Sandbox!

While Josh was working hard, Cin'Que, LaNora, and Jax supervised. And ate popsicles ;) The sun came out, so they watched while he put in a sandbox kinda of area for Jaxon in the backyard. Jax isn't so sure about the sand yet, though.

While Josh worked, Jax kept stealing tools to work himself. He did a great job checking to see if our pavers are level ;)

Shhh...

Don't tell Josh I posted this picture ~ I am pretty sure you won't see him hatless AND wearing a shirt and tie again for a long time.

Great Grandpa Jim

On Father's Day, Josh's grandpa Jim passed away. Below are the few pictures that we have of him with Jaxon. He will be missed!

Father's Day

The following pictures are from my cell phone, which is why a couple are fuzzy. Sorry!

We spent Sunday afternoon in Lisbon with Papa Jim and Grandma Linda. Another beautiful day for Jax to run in circles til he was exhausted!

Hitting some balls with Papa and Daddy. I'm starting to think if this kid doesn't grow up to golf like Tiger Woods, I may be a little disappointed :p Mary, LaNora, Jax, & Cin'Que

Taking Cin'Que's power wheels for a test drive. (Jax watched CARS for the first time on Thursday. He was so excited, he could hardly breathe. Needless to say, we've watched the movie seriously 10 times since then.)

Sitting on the "trackitor" with Daddy

Working

Dannie & Sharon have bells hanging off their deck. We dinged them all!
