Daddy says I'm growing like a weed!

And he's not kidding! Today was Jaxon's 2 month doctor's appointment. He was 10 pounds, 5 ounces and 22.75 inches long. I am convinced that I put him to bed one night and he was one length, and sometime during the night he sprouted up those 3 inches because all of a sudden clothes that fit last week as pants now look like shorts when we put them on! I used to be able to lay him on my lap and now if I do that, his legs have to be off to the side so that he doesn't push himself off!

I had the privilege of being the parent that took Jax for his shots today (I tried to tell Josh he was going to miss out on a fun time and should really be there, but he wasn't buying it). Being the piggy that he is, Jax had no issues drinking down the oral immunization. Thankfully, when it came to the shots, nurse Chelsea was quick enough that by the time she was finishing the second of three shots, Jax was just reacting to the first one. By the time she was done with all three, he let out a good squawk and then gave up on the whole crying thing. (The hemotologist that drew his blood to check his anemia wasn't so lucky) We went down to lab to have the anemia checked and he screamed and kicked the whole time, even with a bottle in his mouth. He was pretty angry about the whole situation, and so the tech had to make do with half the amount of blood she was supposed to draw. The lab called this afternoon and we're on the "up side" of the anemia. Normal is a 10, and Jax is at a 10.5. So I think we're done with testing for that, but we'll see how it goes next time around.

Some video action :)

Both videos are from my cell phone. The top one sort of shows how Jax does this half smile that makes me smile. I am not fast enough to catch the huge smile that he gives right away in the morning. Someday we'll get it! The bottom video is Jax and Crunch, checking each other out. I love the look on Jaxon's face as Crunch is sniffing at him.

Jax is "talking"more and more each day, especially in the mornings for some reason. This morning we had some lovely conversation about I'm not exactly sure what. It was full of babbling and smiles though, and that was a pretty perfect way to start off the day! He's also been spending a lot of time checking himself out in the mirror on the swing. He'll make faces at himself for quite awhile before he gets bored with it. This morning, while I was trying to get ready for the day, he was checking himself out and he'd sort of cry and then stop and smile, babble, and laugh at himself, and then give another good cry and laugh again. I'm starting to wish we had one of those translators that says what he's saying while he's babbling (like the dog in the commercials for the movie "Up")

Wrenches already?!?!?

We went to visit Josh at work for lunch today and the first thing he did was put a wrench in Jax's hand. I'm sure that learning how to change oil will be coming shortly....

Party Animal

Saturday, we went to my cousin's wedding. A couple pictures from the reception:
Today was Jax's first Aunt Tina encounter. I'm hoping she passes her dance moves onto him.

Happy Daddy's Day!

Josh and Jax spent Father's Day afternoon watching the race :)

Big Week!

We have gotten in all sorts of quality time with the people in our family this week. Sunday and Monday, we went to visit Kate at the hospital. Tuesday, Jax and I babysat Cin'Que. Yesterday, we babysat Chase. (This adventure, being the first time to manage both boys on my own, taught me that I will NEVER have children that close in age.)

This is the most exciting part of the week:
Meet Keegan Kimberly ~ she was 2 lbs, 14 oz. and 15.75 inches, born on June 16th. She is super cute, and quite the fighter. She looks a lot like her mommy and daddy.
Look how tiny her diapers are! And I thought Jax's were small!
She's a lil jaundiced so she gets to suntan too....Her lights are blue though, pretty fancy.

Congrats, Kate and Cody!!!

Diaper Update

We are almost one week into using cloth diapers. Verdict: LOVE them. Plus, they look pretty when they're hanging out on the clothesline ;)

Cousins

This morning, while Mary is getting her tonsils out, Jax and I are babysitting Cin'Que. He's not the most talkative little one, but his eyes went pretty wide when he saw Jax's Cars bedroom. Since Q wouldn't answer any of my questions, not even a nod, and it looked like it was going to rain (ruining my plan to take the boys to the park at the soccer fields by our house), we watched the Cars movie. Well...I watched it. About 5 minutes into the movie both Jax and Q were out cold. So I listened to the movie while doing some other stuff, and the boys took a nap. I think it was a good bonding experience ;)

Happy Friday :)

Diapers Day 1

Today is our first day with cloth diapers. I figured that it would be a good day to start them since, if we had to be away from the house it wouldn't be for very long. I am not entirely sure that I stuffed them properly and so if we ended up with wet clothes, I didn't have to drag a crabby, soggy baby around.

I also wasn't quite sure if we could even go the full day with the diapers yet, because of Jax's size. A couple weeks ago, they definately didn't fit. I put one on OVER a disposable diaper and there was still room to spare. Jax has put on a little weight since then, and so I wasn't too surprised that they fit this morning. Granted, they have to be velcroed as small as they can get, but they fit nonetheless.

I fully anticipate going through at least one more outfit today while sorting out the proper arrangement of the diapers, but oh well. So far, so good.
Outfit #1, and hopefully the only outfit of the day!

Maybe he'll be an underwear model when he grows up??

Hello!

I have no clue why this is horizontal and not vertical. One of these days, I'll sort out how to do things properly with our camera!

Fun stuff!

Just some photos that I edited to make them more interesting :)

Sorry, again for the horizontalness of photos that should be vertical... Jax has recently discovered the mirror on the swing and so when you put him in the swing he stares at himself for a couple minutes before he checks out the rest of the world. We had been having a naked baby party before this and so he's wearing one of my shirts since I had no baby clothes upstairs that he hadn't spit up on.

Weekend, Preemie Clinic

This weekend, we were in Lisbon and Enderlin for Josh's cousin's wedding. Jax met ... I don't even know how many people and cuddled with a lot of them. He was pretty good with it all. We worried that he'd squawk in the middle of the wedding so we sat at the back of the church in case we had to make a quick exit. He ended up sleeping through the whole ceremony, thankfully. Josh and I started to worry, since everyone else with younger kids sat at the back with us and a few minutes into the ceremony they each started getting antsy or crying... we were just waiting til Jax decided to join the club. He was at the wedding reception long enough to meet some more people, talk cars with Grandpa Jim, and get his first dancing lesson from Grandma Linda. He spent the rest of the night at my parents with his uncle Tanner babysitting him (which means he probably got a couple lessons in baseball too this weekend).

Sunday we had brunch with family and then stopped in Enderlin to visit a friend of mine that was in town for the week. It was a good visit, I haven't seen Heather for at least ten years! Crazy. We met her little girl, Olivia, who is such a sweetheart and her husband, Ryan.

This morning, Jax and I went to the clinic for preemie clinic where he saw his NICU doctor and the occupational therapist. Jax weighed in at 8 pounds, 8 ounces ~ a little lower than what he should be, so we're back to trying to fatten him up... Anyways, the OT says that everything looks good. The doctor says that his muscle tone is a little low, so we will be doing exercises with him everyday for awhile. Now we don't go back to preemie clinic until the end of August, so we've got lots of time to pudge up and get some muscles.

He had been giggling in his sleep too, besides smiling. I wonder what he was dreaming about?
Cheering AFTER the baseball game ended! :p

Please note how excited Jax is about this picture. As soon as I handed him to Tanner, he started squawking...sorry, Tanner!

Adventures

The last couple days, we've been all over the place.

Saturday, we went on all sorts of missions. We went to get the cloth diapers (he's nearly big enough to finally fit them!), Pout was nearly sold out of them so we're waiting now for the phone call that they've come in. We also went to a gigantic garage sale and got some bigger sized baby clothes. They won't fit for a bit, obviously, but now we're prepared. After the sale, we went to a soccer game. One of my former students was playing and so we went to see her and her family (I currently teach her younger sister). It was fun to watch, I didn't have my camera with me though :( Saturday night, Josh and I went on a mini golfing/dinner date while Mike and Brandy babysat for a couple hours. The weather was perfect for doing something outside! While we were gone, Jax got a lesson in cars and good music from his babysitters. It wouldn't surprise me if he retained all the information that they gave him, they were the same people that sat Crunch down for a "don't eat the baby" conversation and we've seen how awesome that turned out! ;)

Sunday, Jax and I cleaned in his room while Josh did yard work...so nothing to interesting that day. Just a lot of randomness and movie watching later in the day.

Yesterday, Jax went to his first baseball game ~ Tanner played in Casselton. Jax slept through most of the game, but he did get some cuddling in with everyone. Hopefully he was sort of taking notes though, Tanner has high hopes that he'll play baseball when he's a little bigger!

The lady from Right Track came today, to check on Jax's development. Through the summer, she'll come once a month, and then after that we will see her every couple months until he turns 3. According to her, everything seems to be going well developmentally. Hopefully things continue like that.

We have a wedding this weekend and then preemie clinic on Monday, where we'll meet with the OT and one of the doctors from the NICU.

For Grandpa Jim :)

All ready to watch some racing!
