Working on the walking

He's getting better! After boycotting the whole walking thing for a week or so, he's more willing to try to walk and laughs the whole time he's doing it. It's fun to watch. Ignore the dog fluff on the floor, Crunch is shedding his winter coat now (I know...now?!?!) Weird.

Sprinkler fun!

Sorry the quality is so crappy, it was taken with Josh's cell phone!

I have pictures to upload too, but my laptop took a crap and until that gets fixed I have to use the super sloooooow computer..

Oh my goodness

Below is the mess I came to find when Jax woke up this morning. Those tiny white things? That would be 75 baby QTips. When Jaxon wakes up from a nap or is playing in his crib until he falls asleep, he will either play with the stuffed animals on the hip wall or with the stuff on the changing table shelf. (You would not believe how far this kid can stretch his arms when he wants to get something off that shelf!) The last couple days he's preferred the changing table stuff. Especially the QTips.

On Saturday morning I went in there and he'd made a similar mess with them and I kicked myself later for not taking a picture of it. He must have heard me mention this to his grandparents this weekend because this morning the mess was even bigger ~ there were Qtips in places in his room I couldn't believe he could reach! As you can tell from the photo, he felt REALLY bad about this mischief. Good thing I think he's so cute! Mental note: move the stuff on the shelf even farther out of his reach. Again.

First Steps!!!!!!!!

Finally, all our hard work paid off! I have spent the last couple days coaxing Jaxon to try walking on his own and up until last night we had only seen 2 steps that were completely on his own. The first time, I think we freaked him out with our reactions and he plopped down and refused to try again. The second time, I'm pretty sure was completely by accident. Last night, however, was for real. Even now, it makes me sort of tear up ~ I don't like this growing up stuff. This video isn't very long, but uncle Jeff has some longer videos that he is going to email me and then I'll post one of those.

Oops!

We stopped by uncle Jameson's apartment one day to pick up some stuff and hung out for a little bit to visit. It was an interesting visit! First, he spilled a glass of ice water that he was splashing around in and ate the ice cubes and laughed as the water run off the table and all over the floor. I'd get it cleaned up and he would be off throwing things around. He shared some potato chips with Jamie and would drop those on the floor and then pick them up and put them in a pile on the table. Even after making that mess, uncle Jameson was nice enough to share some ice cream with him! And then....while we were visiting, Jax scooted his way to the end of the table, grabbed the half empty bag of chips and dumped them EVERYWHERE! *Please note in the picture below that he's crammed a handful of chips in his mouth after dumping them out*

Good thing that uncle Jameson loves Jax!

Any clue what this is?

Can you tell what this photo is? It's Crunch, cuddled up to the baby monitor. When Jax was smaller and slept in our room, Crunch would sleep next to the pack and play and let us know if the baby even breathed funny. Now that Jax is sleeping in his own room, Crunch will often sleep with his nose right next to the monitor, keeping his eye on the lights and sounds that come from it. If Jaxon happens to cry....or move....Crunch makes sure we (I) know about it.

He's just looking out for his best friend! :)

Off to a good start

I swear I find 15 more things I love about this little person every day.

He does pretty good at standing on his own and though he isn't walking quite yet, NOTHING is safe from him. We joke that we have to move everything so it's 4 feet off the ground so he can't get to it. 4 feet may sound like a lot, but Jax scales things like he's part monkey sometimes! We've tried bribing him to walk, but he's not quite ready, which is ok with us.

Jax is starting to imitate what he sees, which can be kind of funny. He and I were watching tv one day and he imitated a dance move one of the people did. We were all 3 sitting on the couch one night and I flicked Josh, and since Jax can't quite flick a person yet, he poked Josh where I had flicked him.

We have started walking with a friend and her 3 children in the mornings, and sometimes venturing out with them in the afternoons. It makes getting up in the morning a lot easier! Last week we went on a picnic and this week we walked the mall since it was rainy and played at the dinosaur land there. Once Jaxon discovered the tunnels there, he spent a good amount of time just crawling through them back and forth.

Last weekend we went to the lake to sand and paint the dock frame. I tried to get Jax to play in the sand, but he wasn't so sure he liked it. He was ok if I didn't make him sit right IN it like, the pictures below. Otherwise, he'd try to keep both feet out of it if he could. (Ignore that he won't keep the crotch of his clothes snapped, please. He thinks the sound the snaps make is funny and pulls at them all the time and it's usually easier to just leave them undone.)
Josh was in Dallas for 2.5 days for class/work. Waiting for his plane to get back on Friday seemed to take forever, so Jax and I went to the lookout park at the airport to see if we could see some planes land. We didn't see any. There was one, but it didn't fly by us. Jax was pretty happy just crawling around and trying to eat grass, anyways.
Watching for Daddy's plane... (I let him sit on top of my car for this picture and the next. He thought that was pretty cool)

He wasn't so indifferent at Josh this time for being gone (thank goodness!) ~ well, at least he didn't ignore him this time. He didn't laugh and smile though, either. He'll get used to it, I suppose ~ he'll have to, Josh is gone again in another week or so, then home for a couple days and then off to Dallas again.

Hope you are enjoying your summer and sunshine (if you're lucky enough to have it)!
