Sunday Afternoon Adventure

Since it was beautiful out today, we ventured to Lindenwood to try out the playground there. Jaxon has played there before, but that was early summer and he wasn't walking yet, so it wasn't so interesting for him. Today was a completely different story. The bottom picture was taken a couple minutes after we'd gotten there. He's all starry eyed because he was nearly asleep by the time we navigated the detours and actually got to the park. From there though, he was WIDE awake. As you can tell from the photos, the yellow slides (there are 2 different ones) were his favorite. He preferred the taller one (BIG surprise there. This kid is fearless.) and would fly down it before Josh was ready to catch him. When he wasn't going down the slides, he was walking up and down the steps. Our time was spent evenly divided between the slides and pacing up and down the steps. I wonder if he's a perfectionist though, because if he tripped even a little bit, he'd climb back to the top and start over.

One Last Trip....

We went to the lake today to help close up for the season ~ today, of all days, Jaxon decided he was ok with the sand and so we played for a little bit :)

Haircut!

These are only a few of the photos that I took when Jax got his first haircut tonight ~ you're missing out on the screaming til he's red in the face, crying so hard he almost threw up all over pictures but I'm sure if you've ever seen angry/scared Jaxon you can imagine what they looked like. I tried to upload more, but it's so slow and only working half the time so I gave up.

About halfways through, the girl cutting his hair pulled out a sucker and that made things a little easier. He quit screaming, but not crying. In fact, he screamed so loud and so hard earlier in that he scared the crap out of the other little boy (about 4 yrs old) getting his hair cut also. So....now he's gotten rid of what my brother calls his mullet and he looks like a big boy. I hate it. It's cute, but it's too old for him. I like him little.

A little everything

This afternoon, Josh and I baked cookies and made Special K bars and Jax (sort of) helped. While we mixed the cookie dough, he cooked with his wooden spoon, mixing bowl, and water. When that got boring he did one of his new favorite activities ~ stealing my dishtowels and walking around with them either hanging around his neck or over his face. He does the same thing with paint shirts at preschool. We shared the chocolate frosting for the Special K bars with him, and not surprisingly he loved it. :)

The other day at school, Jax discovered this pirate ship. It has tiny little wheels on its bottom and Jaxon is convinced it's a ride on toy. So he stands over it and uses the sails as handlebars and cruises all over the place.
Labor Day weekend, we went to Lakeville to see Grandpa Jim and Grandma Linda. While we were there, we went to the MN State Fair, Nickolodeon Universe, and helped celebrate Aunt Shannon's 40th birthday. The train in the picture below is one of Jaxon's new favorite toy ~ we found a booth at the State Fair that sold adorable wood toys. The man who makes them is retired and spends his free time making them. We picked up a few for him and promised we would be back next year. Probably a good thing since Jax has worn the paint off the wheels of this train already! Next year, though, we want the bulldozer and the BIG train!

Us Around Dallas

It's been a busy couple of weeks! I know you'd rather see cute baby pictures, but here's a couple pictures of Josh and I from our week in Dallas ~ at our first 3D movie, in the Winner's Circle at Texas Motor Speedway, and after an awesome dinner at P.F. Changs! It was a fun trip, but we were glad to get home to our little one!
