To the Races

Last night was Luther Night at the races and so we took Jaxon to see his first car races.  It may have been a little too dusty for him because he was much more interested in playing than sitting to watch the races.  He was interested, though, if there was a crash or if a car's tires fell off.  Then he would cheer and clap for the cars.

Meeting Elmo!

Saturday (in the crazy heat) we went to meet Elmo at Rheault Farms.  Mommy waited in line (for what felt like forever) while Daddy and Jaxon played on the playground.  Jax has only ever watched Sesame Street a handful of times, but he's a pretty big fan of Elmo.  He was pretty brave and walked right up to Elmo for his picture.

To celebrate the end of school, we went to a free event at the zoo ~ we went stroller free since the zoo here is pretty small.  Jax liked having the freedom to do what he wanted, but was pretty annoyed with me when I made him climb the same "mountain" over and over again while we waited for them to draw names for the prizes. 

 Feeding the ducks!  Daddy left work a little bit early so he could come to the zoo with us and helped feed ducks. :)

 Checking out the porcupine.  This position was pretty standard for animal viewing that day.  He would run up, look for/at the animal in the enclosure, yell "Cool! Look at the ______!" and run off to check out the next animal.

A Little Silly

Uncle Tanner Graduates!

Uncle Tanner graduated from high school last weekend.  Jax wasn't very interested in the ceremony after Tanner had walked in and taken his seat.  He was excited to hear the choir, but was disappointed to find out they were not going to be singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" as he had hoped.  (Halfway through the song, he told me "Mom!  They don't even know the words!")

Last Night of Gymnastics

What We've Been Up To

We're nearly done with another 8 weeks of gymnastics.  This session has gone a little better than the last session did.  (We're not so much "the kid in the outfield chasing butterflies" this time around.)  Jax still isn't a huge fan of the warming up part of gymnastics and just wants to jump into doing the big stuff:  obstacle course, foam pit, trampoline.  Last Monday, the weekly handout was a sheet that said which class you should enroll in for next session:  I think we graduated.  In the fall, Jax can do Little Sparks, which is a parent-free class.  Josh and I are not so sure that Jax is ready for that, but by fall things could change.  If nothing else, we may try Little Sparks and if we have to drop back into Parent/Tot, so be it.

 We've gone to watch Tanner play baseball in Casselton.  A couple innings into the game, Jax asked when they were going to start playing baseball, anyways?  Apparently the game we were watching wasn't quite what he had envisioned.

 We've flown kites!  Josh had to work on Kite Day, so Jax and I went alone.  Jax was so proud of himself for getting his kite up and flying with no help.  He wasn't much for standing in one place, though ~ he was pretty sure the only way to fly a kite was to run back and forth.  Even though I told him to watch out, he was in his own world and very focused on his kite and not the others around us.  Thankfully, we only ended up with one huge tangle up.  Even more thankfully, the owner of the kite he tangled with was very understanding about how exciting it is to be flying a kite when you're 3 years old.

 Daddy showed up to surprise Jaxon and fly kites for a couple minutes.  :)  Jaxon is already asking when we get to go fly kites again.  We've all got kites ready to go!
